Wallace "Wally" Welch, 63, died Friday, October 1, 2004 at his home in Springvale surrounded by his wife and children. He was born in Sanford May 18, 1941 a son of Roger and Muriel (Robbins) Welch and graduated from Sanford High School with the Class of 1959. He joined the U.S. Navy and served 4 years with the 212th. Squadron at NAS Lemoore,California. Upon returning from duty, Mr. Welch was employed with Cyro Industries for 11 years, working as a lead man. Later, he and his brother, Butch owned and operated for many years, Little River Builders. They had built close to 200 homes in the area together.Wally was a hard worker, one that instilled in his children the value of honesty and having a good work ethic. Mr. Welch was a Past Master of the Springvale Masonic Lodge 190 and was a Kora Temple Shriner for over 20 years.Wally enjoyed the warm weather of Florida and flying. He liked working with his hands and being able to work outdoors. As a youngster, he and his family attended the Lebanon-No.Berwick Baptist Church. He was devoted to his children and family.He took great pleasure in raising his animals, handling his cows and enjoyed his family homestead. He had a special bond with his dog, Slinky.Survivors include his wife Diane (Armstrong) Welch whom he married June 30, 1999. Two sons: James Welch of Ulster, PA and Jeffry Welch of Rochester, NH. One daughter, Abigail Morgan of Melbourne, FL; and two stepsons, George Pizzillo of Derry, NH and Shannon Pizzillo of San Diego, CA. His brother, Cleveland "Butch" Welch of E. Lebanon, ME and his sister, Ann Torrey of Brattleboro, VT. 4 grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren and 3 nephews and 2 nieces. His parents, Roger and Muriel Welch, predeceased him.A Graveside Service will be held at Forest Grove Cemetery in Lebanon on Tuesday, October 5, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. There will be no calling hours.Memorial donations may be made to The Shriners Hospital (Orthopedic Unit) 516 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104-2396 or to The Shriners Hospital (Burn Unit) 51 Blossom Street, Boston, MA 02114.!
