Mary Beckley

Mary D. Beckley, 90, of Sanford, died on Friday, September 2, 2011 at the Greenwood Center in Sanford. Mary was born in Sanford on July 30, 1921 to Bernard and Doris (Richardson) Millington and attended local schools. During her working life she was employed with several different shoe shops in Somersworth, Dover and Kennebunk. Mary was a faithful member of North Parish Congregational Church in Sanford for 60 years. She was active with the women's fellowship and volunteered with the Goodall Hospital Auxiliary. She will be remembered as a kind and loving mother and friend and will be dearly missed. Surviving are three sons, Robert Allen of Long Island, NY, Michael Allen of Shapleigh, ME and J. Daniel Beckley of Port Charlotte, Florida; a brother, Bernard "Sonny" Millington of Tampa, Fl; three sisters, Eva Millington Lavertu of Rochester, New Hampshire, Doris J. Caron of Alfred, ME and Margaret Ann Lee Shaw of Sanford, ME; many grandchildren and great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Gordon and Robert Millington and two sisters, June Millington Porrell and Marjorie Millington Hank.A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 17th at the North Parish Congregational Church, located at 893 Main Street in Sanford.
