Irene O. Weeks

Irene Ormondroyd Weeks, 93, formerly of Winter Street, died Saturday, January 29, 2005 at Sanford Healthcare Facility after a year of declining health. She was born in Sanford, June 25, 1911, the daughter of Sharp and Susan (Clarkson) Ormondroyd.Mrs. Weeks was a 1929 graduate of Sanford High School and graduated from the former Gorham Normal School in 1931. She worked in the office of the former Goodall-Sanford textile mills for a brief time and then worked as a teacher in various grammar schools in Sanford. From 1956 to 1972 she was a teacher in Albany, NY, before moving back to Sanford.Mrs. Weeks was a member of the Sanford First Baptist Church and was a former member of Ruth Chapter, Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed playing cards with friends, bingo games and she loved to go out to eat with family and friends.She was predeceased by her husband, C. Myron Weeks, in 1975.She is survived by a son, Richard L. Weeks of Wells: two daughters, Constance Harris of Farmington, NH and Joyce Carr of Sanford, 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.Relatives and friends may call at the Heald Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale on Monday, January 31 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 1, 2005 at the funeral home. The Rev. Ginny Gass, pastor of Sanford First Baptist Church will officiate.
