ETHEL V. WILLIAMSActonEthel V. Williams, 80, a longtime resident of Acton, died May 9 at the Goodall Hospital in Sanford after a brief illness.She was born in Acton on February 25, 1925, a daughter of William and Mary (Witham) Bragg and attended Acton schools.She had been employed for most of her life in several local apple orchards including Romac Orchard, Lovejoy Orchard and Kelly Orchards. In earlier years she had worked at the former Sprague Electric and the former Meader Nursing Home in Lebanon. She also drove a school bus for the town of Acton.She was a very active lifetime member of the Acton Congregational Church. She served on the church Board of Trustees, ran many bean suppers and often cleaned the church.She served as an assistant leader in the Acton chapter of 4-H and was active in their booth at the Acton Fair.She was predeceased by her husband Robert Williams in 1981, a daughter Wanda Gail Williams in 1946 and by a son Eric Williams in 1990.Survivors include a son, Robert Williams of Acton, 4 daughters Sandra Williams and her husband Wayne of Topsham, Wanda Carmen Huard and her husband Ray of Springvale, Melinda Smith-Williams of Shapleigh, Tammy Lynn Williams of Greenville, SC, 2 sisters, Millie Mearle Kimball of Sanford, Eldora Clarrage of Wells, a brother, Lloyd Bragg of Acton, a sister-in-law Claire Bragg of Acton, 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.A celebration of her life will be held on Friday at 10 AM in the Acton Congregational Church with the Rev. Dewey Peterson officiating. Burial will follow in Sanborn Cemetery, Acton.The family would like to express its appreciation to Ethel's 2nd family at the Newton Center and to John B.
