SOUTH PORTLAND - Sharon A. Farrell, 76, passed away at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House on Friday, May 21, 2021 after a short illness. Sharon was born in Bangor on October 19, 1944. Raised in South Portland, Sharon attended South Portland Schools. When she was 14 years old, Sharon was walking down the street of her Red Bank neighborhood and saw a young man named John Farrell sitting on the porch. The two were introduced without either of them knowing that this meeting would be the beginning of a relationship that spanned over 6 decades. John and Sharon were married on June 29, 1963 and started their young family in South Portland. Over the years, Sharon worked a few places before her employment with Maine Medical Center for over 27 years. Throughout her time as a cashier, she met thousands of people and developed many good friendships. However, the greatest sense of pride and joy in Sharon's life was her family. She loved being a mother to her son, Shawn, and later loved being a Nana to her grandson and great-grandchildren. She had a very big heart, was very caring, and enjoyed crafts and will be remembered every year at Christmas as it was her favorite holiday. She will be deeply missed. Sharon is predeceased by her mother and 7 siblings. She is survived by her husband, John Farrell of South Portland; son, Shawn Farrell and wife Laurie of South Portland; grandson, Daniel Farrell and wife Paris of Alfred; great-grandchildren, Lilah and London, and one expected this summer. She is also survived by her brother, Dick Brown and wife Linda of South Portland. Visiting Hours celebrating Sharon's life will be held on Thursday, May 27 from 4-6PM at the Conroy-Tully Walker South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland.
