PORTLAND - Barbara K. Tuttle, 85, of Portland, died June 24, 2013 at St. Joseph's Rehabilitation and Residence. She was born May 10, 1928 in Portland, a daughter of Charles and Mary McDonough King. Barbara was educated locally and was a 1946 graduate of Cathedral High School and a 1950 graduate of St. Joseph's College. She married Joseph Anthony Tuttle, Sr. at St. Dominic's Church in 1958 and they began raising their family. She worked for the Department of Human Services; and later worked at the East End Children's Workshop as a social worker for many years. Barbara was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church. She was a former member of the Home and School Association, serving as President and a former member of the Sodality at St. Joseph's. Barbara is predeceased by her husband Joseph, Sr. on October 5, 1997; her parents; sisters, Margaret Campbell, Eleanor Hooper, Katherine Welch, and infant sister Mary; brothers, John King and Charles King; and nephew, William King. Surviving are: four daughters, Amy Sweeney and husband John, Carol O'Brien and husband James, Jane Miller and husband Joseph, all of Portland, Pamela Walker and husband Chet of Westbrook; two sons, Joseph A. Tuttle, Jr. and his wife Kathryn, Martin F. Tuttle, both of Portland; brother, Thomas King; sister in laws, Bette King of Standish, Marilyn King of South Portland, Amy Ashton, Evelyn Tuttle, Muriel Begert, and Mary Riley all of Lewiston, and ten grandchildren. Visiting hours will be held from 4-7 pm on Wednesday, June 26 at Conroy-Tully Crawford Funeral Home, 172 State Street, Portland. Prayers will be recited at 10:15 am on Thursday at the funeral home, followed by an 11 am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph's Church, 673 Stevens Ave., Portland.
