Winifred SmithShapleighWinifred Smith, 94, of Shapleigh, ME died early Tuesday morning August 28, 2001 at the H.D. Goodall Hospital in Sanford, ME.Mrs. Smith was born on April 5, 1907 in Dorchester, MA. She was the daughter of Percy and Mabel Dwyer Doe. She attended school in Massachusetts, and is a graduate of the Malden, MA High School class of 1926.Mrs. Smith moved from Watertown, MA to Shapleigh, ME in 1969 following her retirement from the Newton Public Library in Newton, MA. While in Massachusetts Mrs. Smith was active in the Malden and Pomona Granges.Her husband Edwin B. Smith predeceased her in 1988.Surviving is a son Robert E. Smith of Acton, MA; two daughters, Ruth F. and Jean L. Smith both of Shapleigh and two grandsons, Jason of Melrose, MA, and Andrew of Peabody, MA.Visitation for Mrs. Smith will be held on Wednesday, August 29, 2001 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Heald Funeral Home, 580 Main St. Springvale; where a 1:00 PM funeral service will be held on Thursday. Rev. Les Dorr will be officiating.
