Wilfred 'Fred ' L. Doiron, 86, of Sanford, passed away on Tuesday April 25, 2006 at the Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford. He was born in Sanford on April 29, 1919 a son of Auguste and Ernestine (Demers) Doiron.Mr. Doiron served his country in the US Army during WWII. He served in the Pacific 77th Infantry, Guam, Hiroshima and Okinawa. He was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon.A lifelong communicant of St. Ignatius Catholic Church. He retired from the Sanford School Department in 1982 where he had been employed as a custodian. After retirement he became a member of the United Maine Craftsmans. Fred and his son Bob began Doiron's Wooden Toys which has been a viable business for the past 20 years. In the past few years he particularly enjoyed the companionship of a good friend, Jeanne Letourneau.He is predeceased by his wife, Lucy M. Doiron, brothers and sister, Joseph Doiron, Lionel Doiron, MarieAnge Couture.He is survived by two sons, T. Doiron and Bob Doiron both of Sanford, two grandchildren, Matt Doiron, Kathryn Doiron, two great grandchildren, Jensen and Kelsey, one brother, Leo Doiron, four sisters, Therese Louiselle, Yvette Cormier, Lucille Perron and Jeanne D'Arc Doiron.Visiting hours will be on Friday April 28 from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street in Sanford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 9am at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Sanford. Burial will follow at St. Ignatius Cemetery.Condolences may be sent to the family by going to the "condolence" tab to the left.
