Walter A. Lane

Walter Allan Lane, 75, died suddenly, May 8, 2004. He was born January 3, 1929 in Tuckerton, New Jersey, a son of Frances Bartlett Lane and Albert D. Lane. He was married to Carolyn June Simmons. He worked for Southern New England Telephone Company for many years before retiring and moving to Maine. He loved the outdoors, camped, collected minerals, gardened with his wife and was a fly fisherman of excellence and grace. He was a veteran, and a mason for 54 years. A day trip anywhere with Carolyn was a delight they both shared, time together was everything. One of his greatest pleasures was spending time with his family and his daughter and son-in-law's Golden Retrievers Hannah, Elliot and Kate.He is survived by his wife Carolyn, a daughter Melanie, a son-in-law Robert, a sister Claire, a brother-in-law Walter, a sister-in-law Betty, and a niece Pat. He will be more deeply missed than words can say.A period of visitation will be held at the Heald Funeral Home, 580 Main Street in Springvale on Wednesday, May 12, 2004, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. A graveside funeral service will be held at the Evergreen Cemetery in Alfred, Maine on Thursday, May 13, 2004 at 10:30 a.m.
