Walter F. Karcher

SanfordWalter F. Karcher, 65, of Sanford, ME died Monday afternoon March 4, 2002 at the H.D. Goodall Hospital in SanfordMr. Karcher was born on December 17, 1936 in Somerville, MA. He was the son of the late Arthur and Olive Picken Karcher.Mr. Karcher is a retired Air Force Veteran; he proudly served his country in Vietnam, and traveled extensively while in the service. He began his military career as a part of the fire rescue crew, and retired in 1976 as a missile technician. Following his military service Mr. Karcher worked For Sprague Electric for 20 years and retired from there in 1999.In his spare time Mr. Karcher enjoyed fishing, and socializing with his friends. He was also a member of the AMVETS in Sanford.Surviving is a son, Walter C. Karcher of Lyman, ME, a daughter Jacqueline E. Parsons of Alfred, ME, a granddaughter Emily Reed of Alfred, ME, three brothers, Arthur Karcher Jr. of Alfred, Wendell Karcher of El Paso, TX, William Karcher of Alfred, ME, two sisters, Olive Wicker of Portland, and Beverly of Portland. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.Friends are invited to attend a period of visitation from 1 to 3 PM, followed by a funeral service at 3:00 PM at the Heald Funeral Home, 580 Main St. Springvale.
