Viola Demers

Viola 'Vi' Demers, 85, of Sanford, passed away surrounded by her family on Friday evening, August 4, 2006, at the Pavillion in Sanford. She was born in Sanford, a daughter of the late Thomas and Delina (Lapointe) Chapais.As a child, she attended Holy Family Catholic school. She remained a lifelong communicant of the parish.She had been employed at the former Sanford Goodall Textile Mills. At the time of her retirement she was working as a C.N.A. at the former Hillcrest Manor in Sanford.Aside from the four years she and her husband spent in Homossa Springs, Florida, from 1984 to 1988, they were both lifelong residents of Sanford.She is predeceased by her husband of 46 years, Fernand 'Fred' Demers, who passed away in 1993. She is also predeceased by one brother, Lionel Chapais, who passed away in 2000.She is survived by two sisters, Cecile Gauthier of Sanford and Gertrude Paquette of Spring Hill, Florida, as well as six nieces and nine nephews.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 8 at 11am at Holy Family Catholic Church in Sanford.
