Viola R. Blue

Viola R. Blue, 93, a longtime resident of Sanford, died December 28 at Seal Rock Healthcare at Atlantic Heights in Saco after a long illness.She was born in Sanford on February 20, 1918, the daughter of Francois and Marie Anne (Landry) Boisvert. She attended Holy Family School and was a graduate of St. Ignatius High School.Viola married Albert P. Blue who was serving in the US Air Force. They travelled extensively in connection with his service. She had no children of her own, but at each stop along the way, she served as a mentor to many children in each area. She especially enjoyed her time with native tribes in Central America. Albert died in 1971 and Viola came back to Sanford where she was employed with Sprague Electric, retiring in 1980.She was a communicant of St. Ignatius Church.Survivors include a nephew, Robert Boisvert of Sanford, a niece Patricia Blaisdell of York and several grand nieces and nephews.Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday from 2-4 PM at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street, Sanford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 11:00 AM at the Holy Family Church of St. Therse of Lisieux Parish in Sanford. Burial will be in the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Augusta.Arrangements are under the direction of the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street, Sanford.
