Vernon L. ClemetsonDoverVernon L. Clemetson, 76, of Rochester, NH died Monday evening, September 10, 2001 at the Wentworth Douglas Hospital in Dover.Mr. Clemetson was born on August 5, 1925 in Genoa, North Dakota. He was the son of P. James and Josephine Shimpa Clemetson. He attended schools in Greenbush, MN and graduated High School there.Mr. Clemetson was a veteran of WWII. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. New Mexico as a gunners mate. Upon his return home Mr. Clemetson was married to Shirley Hilton. Together they moved to California. Following a brief stay there they returned to the east coast and resided in Cambridge, MA, then Cape Cod, Raymond, NH and for the past 12 years in Rochester, NH. Mr. Clemetson worked for many years at Raytheon in Quincy, MA.Playing cards and tinkering around in his shop were his favorite pastimes. He also enjoyed tending to his garden and helping out the neighbors. He was said by his wife to be a loving husband, father, and a "Jack of all trades".He is predeceased by a grandson Brandon "Bojo" Oakley in 1992.Surviving is his wife of 53 years Shirley Hilton Clemetson of Sanford; two daughters, Sandra Bartolome of Sanford, Donna Oakley of Springvale; a son Ronald Clemetson of Ventura, FL; four grandchildren, Carley and Joseph Bartolome II, Justin Oakley, Derick Clemetson and a great grandson Jacob Bartolome. A niece and nephew also survive.A period of visitation will be held on Thursday September 13, 2001 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Heald Funeral Home, 580 Main St., Springvale. On Friday please meet the family for a 10:00 AM funeral service at the Curtis Lake Christian Church in Sanford on Westview Dr. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery. The Rev. Rick Leach will officiate.
