Valerie J. Binette

Valerie J. Binette, 88, of Alfred, passed away on Sunday July 17, 2011 at the Newton Center in Sanford. She was born in Shapleigh on June 24, 1923, a daughter of the late Harold and Edith (Littlefield) Day.For many years until her retirement she was employed by local shoe shops.She loved going to the beach and her weekly visits to Bonanza with her friends. She loved being a grandmother. Her greatest joy in life was quality time spent with her family.She is predeceased by her husband, Phillip A. Binette, three sisters, Rita Brown, Eva Adelaide and Pearl Gloria Day.She is survived by one daughter, Lynn Chase and her husband, Linwood of Alfred, grandson, Jim Carignan and his wife, Kelly of Cumberland, two great grandchildren, Jenna and Damien Carignan. Sisters, Violet Ricker of Alfred, Shirley Roux of Alfred, Betty Hachey of Springvale, Joyce Goodfield of Wells, Ferne Penney and her husband, Tom of Shapleigh, brothers, Russell Day of Shapleigh and Sam Day and his wife, Geraldine of Springvale, many nieces and nephews.Visiting hours will be on Wednesday from 6 to 8PM at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale.
