Urban W. Desfosses

Urban "Durb" Desfosses, Sr., 85, longtime resident of Sanford died December 6, 2004 at Goodall Hospital in Sanford.He was born November 23, 1919 in Springvale a son of Napoleon U. and Edith M. (Brown) Desfosses and graduated from Sanford High School in 1937. He served during World War II in the U.S. Marine Corp and obtained the rank of Corporal upon discharge. Mr. Desfosses was a dedicated worker, gaining employment with Allied Shoe in Springvale, Universal Shoe and retired from Kessler Shoe Shop in Kennebunk in 1976.Mr. Desfosses enjoyed working with leather and was an avid reader. He had a good sense of humor and traveled to Florida, Missouri and California. He was a member of the Elks in Sanford, AARP and the United Shoe Workers of America. Mr.Desfosses was devoted to his family and grandchildren.Survivors include one son, Urban and his wife, Suzanne (Kostis) Desfosses, Jr. of Sanford and one daughter, Louise Cash also of Sanford. Three grandchildren, Richard Desfosses of Sanford; Kevin Poole of Dover, NH; and Julie Horr of Sanford. Also, four great grandchildren, Nathan, Jacob, Gryphon and Zoe. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 50 + years, Virginia (Langlois) Desfosses in May 2003 and by two brothers, Kenneth and Walter Parenteau. Funeral Services will Friday, December 10, 2004 at 2:00 pm at the Heald Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale. Friends and family may call from Noon until the hour of service.
