
Tymoor “Ty” Kashmiry, 74, of Sanford, Maine, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2026, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House following a courageous battle with cancer.
Ty was born on May 29, 1952, in Erie, Pennsylvania, to Dr. Monir Kashmiry and Laurine Engel Kashmiry. He was raised in Upper Saddle River and Basking Ridge, New Jersey, and attended Ridge High School before continuing his education at Brown University, where he earned a degree in anthropology.
Throughout his life, Ty worked as a chef in a variety of settings, sharing his love of cooking with many. He also found great joy in the outdoors, especially fishing, camping, and hunting. Music was another important part of his life, and he loved playing his guitar.
Ty is survived by his lifetime partner of 39 years, Rita Pelletier; his son, Todd Ceglia of Clarence, New York; his sister, Karolyn Zois of Kennebunk, Maine; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his sisters, Nadia Hassinger of Long Valley, New Jersey, Amal Streeter of Wells, Maine, and Vanessa Kashmiry of Sanford, Maine.
At the request of the family, services will be private.
