Tymoor “Ty” Kashmiry, 74, of Sanford, Maine, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2026, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House following a courageous battle with cancer.

Ty was born on May 29, 1952, in Erie, Pennsylvania, to Dr. Monir Kashmiry and Laurine Engel Kashmiry. He was raised in Upper Saddle River and Basking Ridge, New Jersey, and attended Ridge High School before continuing his education at Brown University, where he earned a degree in anthropology.

Throughout his life, Ty worked as a chef in a variety of settings, sharing his love of cooking with many. He also found great joy in the outdoors, especially fishing, camping, and hunting. Music was another important part of his life, and he loved playing his guitar.

Ty is survived by his lifetime partner of 39 years, Rita Pelletier; his son, Todd Ceglia of Clarence, New York; his sister, Karolyn Zois of Kennebunk, Maine; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his sisters, Nadia Hassinger of Long Valley, New Jersey, Amal Streeter of Wells, Maine, and Vanessa Kashmiry of Sanford, Maine.

At the request of the family, services will be private.

  2. I’m sad to see this post and know that Ty passed away. I met him in 2004. We worked together at Varney Crossing for many years. I very much enjoyed his friendship and kindness. He was a Great Guy. I’ve missed seeing him over the last 5 years. May God Bless him🙏🏻

  8. I was fortunate to call Ty my freind. He was such a wonderful person and I will forever be greatful for knowing him and experiencing his levity in dark places. I served with Ty (as Corrections Officers at the York County Jail) and there were plenty of moments where the stresses and preasures of the job seemed far to much to bare and that was when Ty shined. He would somehow come up with something unbelievably funny to say (these usually one liners always seemed to come from out of nowhere). I don’t know if I ever shared how much that meant to me, all I can hope is that he knew. He was a fine Officer but an even better freind. I cant help but feel as though his passing makes the world a much smaller and less interesting place.
    I will miss him.

  11. I’ve known Ty for many years. He was my neighbor and friend. Have a problem? Ask Ty, and he’ll find a way to help you out. I’ll miss the waves and beautiful smiles as he worked in his yard, cruise by in his orange sports car or truck to meet the days demands. Rest peacefully my friend.
