Thomas “Tommy” McDonough

December 20, 2025

Portland – Thomas G. McDonough, 49, passed away in Bridgton on December 20, 2025.

Born and raised in Portland’s West End, Thomas, known to most as “Tommy”, had deep roots in the neighborhood he always considered home. He attended Portland High School and went on to work for many years as a butcher where he was very skilled.

Tommy was fiercely devoted to his family and well known for his lifelong love of the Boston Celtics—especially Larry Bird. He found joy in simple pleasures, good conversation, and time spent with those he loved most.

He was predeceased by his mother, Candice McDonough, who passed away on April 28, 2010, and by his granddaughter, Abby, who passed away on December 16, 2014.

Tommy is survived by his sons, Thomas McDonough Jr., Jake, and Bailey; his daughters, Ashley and Robyn; his father, John McDonough; and his siblings, John and Maggie McDonough, Virginia and Derek Marshall, Mary and Patrick Sena, Crystal Briggs and Dan. He is also lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Isabella, Judith, Connor, and Savannah, as well as many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Tommy’s life will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2026 from 12PM-3PM at the Maine Irish Heritage Center at the corner of State Street and Gray Street.
