SOUTH PORTLAND - Thomas G. Myatt, 97, of Main Street, died Monday, July 21, 2014, at Pine Point Center in Scarborough. He was born in Portland on August 31, 1916, a son of James and Margaret (Connolly) Myatt. He graduated from the Catholic Institute (Cheverus), class of 1935. He married Rita M. Conley on May 30, 1938, at Holy Cross Church in South Portland. During World War II Tom worked at the South Portland Shipyard and served in the U.S. Army. Tom worked as Shipping Manager for Rines Bros. Department Store for 35 years, then as a cargo checker on the Portland waterfront. He was a lifelong member of the Eagles , enjoyed having a vegetable garden into his 90's and liked working on things around the house. He is predeceased by this wife who died June 6, 2005; and nine brothers, Francis, Patrick, James, Peter, Michael, John, William, Edward, and Paul Myatt. He is survived by a son, John Myatt and wife Roberta of Westbrook; three daughters, Pat Myatt of South Portland, Margaret O'Donnell and husband George of South Portland, and Barbara Pearson and husband John of Georgetown, Massachusetts; two sisters in law; Viola Main of South Portland and Margaret Sweatt of Cave Creek, Arizona; eight grandchildren, Kathleen Saucier, Kerry Lynn White, Mary Ellen Pennington, Thomas G. Myatt II, James Pearson, Alec Randall, Margaret Park, and Martha Craycroft; and one great-grandson, Bradley Saucier. Visiting hours will be held 4:00 - 7:00 pm, Thursday, at Conroy-Tully Crawford South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 am Friday at Holy Cross Church, 124 Cottage Road, South Portland.
