PORTLAND - Thomas J. Minervino, 80, died Monday, February 4, 2013, at his home. He was born June 7, 1932, in Portland, son of Stephen and Lucia (Pierobello) Minervino. Thomas grew up in Portland and was a 1950 Graduate of Portland High School. Following school he enlisted in the US Navy and was a Korean War Veteran. While in the Navy Thomas served on USS Stockham, USS Arcadia, and the LSMR 525 landing ship. He enjoyed a career as a truck driver for Congdon Transportation from 1954 - 1970. Thomas was a member of the VFW Deering Memorial Post 6859, and Alcoholics Anonymous. Thomas was predeceased by his parents and his brother Stephen L. Minervino. He is survived by a daughter, Lucia A. Coyne and her husband Martin of Westbrook; sons Stephen T. Minervino and his fianc(c) Cindy of Springfield, and Rev. Mark A. Minervino and his wife Kristen of Cary NC, and an adopted daughter Melissa LaMontange and her husband Solomon of Casco; sisters Mary Martin of Scarborough and Anna Tuck of Portland; 13 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandson. A graveside service will be held at New Calvary Cemetery, 1461 Broadway, South Portland, on Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at noon.   2. I miss you Dad. What started as a Saturday phone call “Is Cafe Minervino open for tea today” turned into an every Saturday visit of tea and Stella Dora. Over tea and cookies Dad and I would talk. “How was your week?” he’d w ask. “Did you get out this week on the bus?” I’d ask. That’s how it would go. There is a new sign at the Cafe now. Closed, gone to heaven to have tea with the Angels.
