Theresa M. Porell, 95, of Sanford passed away on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at Seal Rock Healthcare in Saco. She was born in Springvale on November 18, 1925, the daughter of Emile and Adiana (Cloutier) Morin. The family soon moved to Asbestos, Quebec in Canada where she lived as a child and teenager. In 1943, Theresa came back to Maine with her sister Simone. She then met and married her husband Ronald Porell and together they had three children. Theresa was a devout Catholic and was a parishioner of both Holy Family Church and St. Ignatius where she served as a Eucharistic minister for a short time. Besides raising her family, she was employed at local Sanford mills. Upon retiring she kept busy by volunteering at several organizations including Waban, the Sanford Armory and at church. Some of her hobbies included sewing, knitting, bowling, and traveling. In recent years she really enjoyed playing cards with her friends and trying her luck with scratch tickets. Theresa was fiercely independent. She had been living on her own with minimal help until very recently. She was a sweet lady who was loved by everyone that knew her. She is predeceased by her parents, and her husband Ronald, a sister Rejeanne Hines, and two brothers Roger Morin and Conrad Morin. Survivors include two daughters, Monique Hilton, Pauline Miller and a son Mark Porell and his wife Susan, granddaughters Heather Hilton and Meghan Benner and her husband Jon, a great grandson Benjamin Benner, sisters Gisele Morin, and her husband Gilbert, Simone Caron, and a brother Gilles Morin and his wife Rejeanne. A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at 11:30 A.M. with an hour of visitation prior at Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main St., Springvale.
