Ted, who recently celebrated his 90th birthday, was born on May 30, 1925 to the late Frank and Ethel (Murtha) Logan, of Portland, and attended Portland schools. A resident of Scarborough, Ted joined the Scarborough Planning Board and was chairman for many years. He was also a founding member of SEDCO, the Scarborough Economic Development Corporation. He had lifelong interests in sailing, skiing and golf, and shared his love for these things with his children who adored him and have happy memories of skiing with him, spending time at the camp on Sebago Lake and sailing on Casco Bay. He enjoyed traveling with Connie and their close circle of friends, and was happy to spend winters with them in Vero Beach, FL. I was so very sorry to learn about Mr. Logan’s death. I have fond memories of the time I spent with your family when Dianne and I were in high school and college. I know how much of his time and talents Mr. Logan gave to the town through his service on various committees and boards while I was still living in the area. I particularly remember his able service as chair of the Scarborough planning board. I was amazed to learn the full extent of his contributions to local government and to the area economy when I read his obituary. I know how much you will all miss him, but hopefully can take comfort in the fact that he had a long and good life. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. I am sorry that I wasn’t able to attend his service or visiting hours. I didn’t learn about it in time.

Mr. Ted Logan was a wonderful man who raised 8 great children and deeply loved all of them. He was also a courageous veteran of World War II and remained quiet and humble about his wartime experience. It was my honor to know him and I salute this fine gentleman as he leaves us in body but never in spirit. My condolences to Mrs. Logan, Thede, Diane, Anne, John, Susan, Tommy, Carol, and Margaret. Rest in peace, Mr. Logan, and may God bless your family as they say farewell.

Mr. Logan was not only a guiding light for his eight children but also for all of his children’s friends. I was one of them. He took me skiing for the first time. He sponsored my little league team. He took me sailing for the first time. He helped me get my first job. I could go on for awhile.I’m sorry that I won’t be able to attend his service but I’m sure that it will be well attended by hundreds of people who also loved this giant of a man. God speed Mr. Logan.

Becky, the family and Dianne would of loved to see you at the funeral. We sincerely appreciate your expression of sympathy and sharing your memories of our dad. He did live a good life. It’s been amazing to hear so many share their stories about our dad with a big smile and laughter. The story, “Another Scarborough giant falls” in the Current newspaper was another amazing story that needed to be told by your brother, Dan. Our dad would of been amazed to hear how many people were touched by him and thankful he had the opportunity to do so.
