April 19, 1954 ~ January 22, 2025
Suzanne R. Cochran, 70, of Sanford, passed away peacefully with her husband and son by her side on January 22, 2025 after a short battle with cancer.
Born on April 19, 1954 in Sanford, Maine, Sue was the daughter of Lionel and Jeannette Lachance (Michaud). She graduated from Sanford High School in 1973 and went on to attend Pierre’s School of Cosmetology.
Sue began work at a young age at Gay’s Hide Away and Villa Café in Springvale, King’s Department Store in Sanford and most notably her 20 year career with Hannaford Brothers in Wells which concluded in 2020.
When married to Scott Barraclough, she mothered her sole son, Adam and in 2003, she married Gary Cochran where they adored each other for 21 amazing years in both Sanford and Lady Lake, Florida.
Sue enjoyed gardening in her younger years, crafting in and out of the house, motorcycle rides with Gary through the New Hampshire’s White Mountains and hosting annual Christmas Parties for close friends and work colleagues. When she and Gary retired they held dual residency in Maine and Florida where they enjoyed non-GPS guided drives through the countryside, yearly round trip drives up and down the I-95 corridor where they would visit long friends Robert and Janet Blanchard as well as various New England Chinese restaurant stops with life long friends Rachel Burbank and Connie Brine (husbands Ricky and Tom in tow).
Sue is survived by her son Adam Barraclough of Enid, OK (serving in the United States Air Forces as an active duty Chief Master Sergeant) and husband Gary, his daughter, Kristen Clark, her husband Eric and their daughter Amelia of Shapleigh, ME; brother Thomas Lachance and wife Denise Lachance of Saco, ME; sister Martha Lachance and wife Barabra Lachance of Sanford, ME; a number of cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation and/or celebration arrangements will be announced at a later date when her last journey north takes place in the Spring or Summer.

Sue is such a beautiful person. I am proud to call her my sister and my friend. Throughout my life, I could always count on Sue. Whenever I had a problem or a question, I would always ask Sue. Sue will know. And she always did! Now I’m just going to have to look a little further NORTH for my advice and answers because I WILL get them in the sunshine, rainbows and stars at night !
Rest in Peace my Sweet Sister
