In Loving Memory of Susan Joyce Munroe

Sue, 61, of Springvale, Maine, passed away unexpectedly, leaving behind a lifetime of love, laughter, and cherished memories. Born and raised in Maine, this fourth child of Perry and Galena Munroe, developed a love of family, laughter, and adventure that served her well throughout her life.

Bubbly, funny, warm, and generous, Sue’s presence brought every party to life. She had a bright smile and an infectious giggle that were welcomed additions to every gathering. Sue shared an especially close bond with her siblings who all loved to sing, laugh, and enjoy each other’s company. Those joyful gatherings formed treasured memories and were one of the great blessings of Sue’s life.

Although she never married or had children of her own, Aunt Sue held a special place in the lives of her nieces and nephews. The love she gave them will continue to live on through the memories they share.

When she wasn’t loving on her family and friends, Sue was loving her Boston Red Sox. She traveled to attend Spring Training and was even lucky enough to watch a game from atop the Green Monster.

Sue also loved traveling with her family whenever possible, finding joy in the experiences and time spent with those she loved. While visiting her sister Kim, in Alaska, Sue came to love its rugged beauty and made lifelong friends there. A trip to Scotland in 2017 with her siblings, a sister-in-law, nieces, and a nephew, stands out as one of the best trips of all time.

Sue was a collector of cats. Marty and Sebastian were her first true loves. She then opened her home to Bella when Sue’s mother died. Next came King George, a rescue from Long Island, who needed the big love that Sue could provide. It was then that a new love came into Sue’s life. She was blessed to share nine years with her boyfriend, Eddie, who in addition to joining Sue on several ocean cruises, encouraged Sue to adopt Luna and Cleetus when her home was cat-less. Luna and Cleetus are now in the loving care of Eddie.

Recently, Sue worked at Martin’s Point, helping people with their insurance needs. Through her work, she had the opportunity to help others and make a difference in their lives.

Her love for Jesus was quiet but real. Her faith was a meaningful part of who she was, and the hope she had in Him brings comfort to those who mourn her passing.

Sue leaves behind her four siblings: Judy Munroe Cartmel (Bill) of Lewiston, ME; Steve Munroe (Shelagh) of St. Albans, VT; Nancy Munroe (Bob Delaney) of Yarmouth, ME; and Kim Munroe Davis of Kennesaw, GA. She is further survived by her nieces and nephews: Natalie Cartmel of Portland, ME; Lauren Cartmel Robbins (Kyle) and their children Owen and Jackson of Durham, ME; Grady Munroe (Teryn) of Madison, WI; Ceilidh Munroe of St. Albans, VT; Ashton Delaney (Marina) of Brooklyn, NY; Ben Davis (Heidi) and their children April and Adaline of Kennesaw, GA; Kayla Davis of VA; Marceline Palmer of Eugene, OR; and Abby Davis of Kennesaw, GA. Sue also leaves behind her cats, Luna Bug and Cleetus, and many extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Perry and Galena Munroe.

Sue leaves us all with memories of her playful teasing, her kindness, her love of family, her tender heart for animals, and a lifetime supply of cat toys. She made ordinary moments special and brought a unique joy to the lives of those around her. Though her passing came without warning, the love she gave and the memories she created will remain with us always.
