Portland - Steven M. Mangone, 71, passed away at a Portland hospital on December 19, 2023. Born on May 24, 1952, in Boston, MA, the son of George and Patricia (Burns) Mangone. Steve, an artist with a passion for his craft, shared his talents as a Middle School art teacher for a short time. He also dedicated over 30 years to a Boy Scout Troop in Weymouth, MA. Steve volunteered tirelessly and was loved by the scouts, known for being a big kid at heart, he was described as goofy, generous, and playful. For the majority of his career, Steve owned his own business, Town Industrial Supplies, in MA. However, his true joy in life was interacting and teaching kids, especially with his own grandchildren, he became known affectionately as "Grampy", and enjoyed roughhousing and long walks with them. Steve is predeceased by his parents and brothers, William “Bill” Mangone and David Mangone, He is survived by his children; Nicole Mangone and husband Ricky Gougian of Gorham, Heather Mangone and fiancé Stephen Biondi of Cumberland, RI, Kyle Mangone and wife Michelle Diruzza of Willow Spring, NC, and Keaton Mangone and partner Julie Glavin of Whitman, MA. Grandchildren, Lucas Mangone and Harmony Biondi. His stepmother Constance Mangone, Siblings, Peter and Sandra Nolan, Julie Kuhlmann, Annette Wright, and Eileen Wali; and many nieces and nephews. Arrangements are under the direction of Conroy-Tully Walker Funeral Home of Portland.   1. I knew Steve from being in Troop 19, I have many fond memories of his great humor and creativity – the annual haunted house fundraiser that he led was a highlight of the entire year, every year. I’m thankful for his involvement with the Troop and sorry for the loss his family faces.
