Stella M. Libbey

Stella M. Libbey, 97 years old of Springvale, ME died early Friday morning March14, 2003 at the H.D. Goodall Hospital in Sanford.Mrs. Libbey was born on July 27, 1905 in Lebanon, ME. She was the daughter of John and Nellie Gee Goodwin. She attended Lebanon schools and on September 17, 1923 was married to Ernest C. Libbey.Mrs. Libbey retired from the Jagger Brother Mills where she had worked for over 15 years. She was known throughout the community for her knitting and crochet work that she often gave to others. Stella enjoyed the quiet times as well, and found enjoyment in doing crossword puzzles.Predeceasing Stella is her husband of 71 years Ernest, and their son Robert Libbey.Surviving are two sons, Richard and Roger Libbey both of Sanford. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 2 great, great-grandchildren. Visiting hours for Mrs. Libbey will be held on Monday March 17th from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Heald Funeral Home, Springvale; where funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM
