Stella A. Dion, 75, of Sanford, passed away on Wednesday July 25, 2012 at her home after a brief illness. She was born in Sanford on December 9, 1936, a daughter of the late Amedee and Annie (Buchanon) Allaire. She was the youngest child of 12. She attended St. Ignatius High School and was lead cheerleader graduating in 1956.She married Donald J. Dion in 1956 and they owned and operated the Western Auto Store in Springvale which later moved to Sanford. She worked at the Goodall Hospital in the Food Service Dept. and also at the Sanford Springvale YMCA as a member service representative. She was the morning opener and really enjoyed her early morning visits with members.She was an avid bingo player and regularly attended the Sanford Elks and AMVETS, Waterboro Lions as well as Milton Farmington, Union and Somersworth Senior Games.She was a passionate reader and enjoyed going to yard sales looking for books and trading them at Nonesuch Books in Saco. She was very generous and loved to give people gifts. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.She is predeceased by her ex husband, Donald, her brothers, Donat, Roger, Raymond, Robert and sisters, Irene Hupe, Helen Vigue, Claire Gorman and Diane Bourque.She is survived by her daughters, Susan Mrazik and her husband, Dale of Acton, Rachel Bijaczyk and her husband, Drew of Manville, NJ, son, Larry Dion of Sanford, grandchildren, Scott and Erica Mrazik, Sarah Bijaczyk, brother, Larry from Montgomery, AL, Andrew from Somersworth, NH and sister, Lillian Perron of Rochester, NH.The family would like to thank Dr. Michael Lincourt, her primary physician, Dr. Shearman, Dr Lamba and Dr. Ilyas as well as Hospice of Southern Maine for the care and support shown to Stella during her brief illness.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 30 at 11AM at St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, Notre Dame Church.
