Stanley F. Austin

Stanley F. Austin, 87 years old, formerly of Standish, ME died Saturday August 16, 2003 at the Greenwood Center in Sanford, ME.Mr. Austin was born on January 20, 1916 in Portland, ME. He was the son of George and Clarissa Steele Austin. He is a graduate of Standish High School; where he excelled as a baseball and basketball player. Mr. Austin married his high school sweetheart, Mildred Ettinger, and together they began a family.After living in steep falls, ME for a short period of time, the Austin family moved to Needham, MA. Mr. Austin worked for American Can Company until his retirement in 1976. Once retired Mr. Austin and his wife traveled the United States in their R.V. visiting many family and friends along the way. Along with their family Mr. And Mrs. Austin enjoyed spending time at their cottage in Wolfeboro, NH. Mr. Austin was also a member of the Standish Masonic Order.In 1989 Mr. & Mrs. Austin's son Robert S. Austin passed away, and in 2001 Mr. Austins' beloved wife Milly passed away after 60 years of marriage.Surviving is a son Stanley and Linda Austin of Rochester, NH, his deceased son Roberts' family of Roscoe, NY, two brothers, two grandsons, three granddaughters, and 2 great-granddaughters.A period of visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 19, 2003 from 6 to 8 PM at the Heald Funeral Home, 580 Main St. Springvale, ME. Funeral services for Mr. Austin will be held on Wednesday the 20th at Sebago Lake Church (Rte. 35) at 10:00 AM.For those that desire memorials may be made to the Alzheimer Association 163 Lancaster St. Suite 160B, Portland, ME 04101.
