Shirley P. Jalbert, 59, of Sanford died Monday, May 15, 2006 at the H.D. Goodall Hospital in Sanford.Shirley was born on March 23, 1947 in Peabody, MA to Raymond and Cecile (Gagnon) Jalbert, Sr. She graduated St. Joseph's School in Salem and attended Salem High School. She worked at Salem Shoe, Gale Shoe and Duchess Footwear in Salem, MA before moving to Sanford in 1986. After moving to Maine, she began working at the Kingsport Inn in Kennebunkport where she was employed until she was no longer able to work due to illness. Mrs. Jalbert enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially going shopping with her dear friend, Cathy Lambert. Shirley enjoyed flower gardening; she had a green thumb and could make just about anything grow. She enjoyed building dollhouses, which she would skillfully craft, paying attention to the smallest detail. Cooking was also something that Shirley was known for. She treated many people to her famous lasagna, which she would proudly bring to many family gatherings. Shirley also loved animals, especially her cat Mokie. Shirley will be remembered as a kind and loving person, she was loved by all who knew her and will be deeply missed. Surviving are her mother, Cecile Hughes of Peabody, MA; her husband, Juan Martinez of Sanford; a son, Juan Jalbert and his girlfriend Ashley Souzer of Sanford; a daughter Heather Langlais and her husband Philip of Springvale; two brothers, Raymond Jalbert, Jr. and his wife Sandra of Sanford and David Jalbert and his wife Christina of Peabody, MA; two grandsons, Christopher and Philip Langlais of Springvale; her best friend, Cathy Lambert of Sanford and many aunts, uncles cousins, nieces and nephews and friends.A period of visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 & 6:00 to 8:00 on Wednesday, May 17, 2006 at Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, located at 29 Winter Street in Sanford. A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 on Friday, May 19, 2006 at Holy Family Church, located on North Avenue in Sanford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the American Cancer Society, New England Division, Inc., 1 Main Street, Suite 300, Topsham, ME 04086.
