Shirley E. Clemetson

Shirley E. Clemetson, 77 years old, of Sanford, ME and formerly of Rochester, NH died late Tuesday evening July 8, 2003 at the Goodall Hospital in Sanford.Mrs. Clemetson was born on June 21, 1926 in Cambridge, MA. She was the daughter of Samuel and Gertrude Griffith Hilton. It was in Cambridge that she attended schools and met her husband, the late Vernon Clemetson, while roller-skating.Together, Mrs. Clemetson and her husband moved to California and started a family. They would later return to the east coast and after several moves they settled in Rochester, NH, then Sanford ME.Mrs. Clemetson was a social butterfly with a tremendous sense of humor. She loved to travel, crochet, and tend to her garden. Her grandchildren held a very dear place in her heart.Predeceasing Mrs. Clemetson is her husband Vernon, a grandson Brandon "Bojo" Oakley, and a sister Ruth Cummings.Surviving are two daughters, Sandra Bartolome of Sanford, Donna Oakley of Springvale, a son Ronald Clemetson of Ventura, FL, grandchildren Carley Bartolome, Joseph Bartolome II, Justin Oakley, Derick Clemetson, a great-grandson Jacob Bartolome, and a sister Hazel Stringer of Texas. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.A period of visitation will be held on Thursday July 10, 2003 from 5 to 8 PM at the Heald Funeral Home, Springvale, ME.
