Shirley A. Clements, 90, of Shapleigh, passed away on Tuesday June 28, 2011 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough, following a long illness. She was born in Sanford on August 29, 1920, a daughter of the late Harry and Marie (Walsh) Whiting. She attended local Sanford schools. She married John Clements in Boston on April 11, 1937.For ten years she was employed as and Aide at the Hillcrest Nursing Home in Sanford.She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She also enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles. She had a great sense of humor which remained with her until the end and she never lost her spirit. She is predeceased by her husband, John Clements who passed away in 1979, one sister, Irma Jennings who passed away in 1965.She had fond memories of her trip to Hawaii in 1975 with her husband John and friends.She is survived by her children, John Clements of Shapleigh, Marlene Lewis of Shapleigh, Shirley A. Clements of Sanford, Beverley Anderson and her husband, Robert of Sanford, four grandchildren, David Lewis and his wife, Clarissa of Baltimore, MD, Deborah Simons and her husband, Jack of Melbourne, FL, Christopher Anderson and his companion Tammy of Sanford, Shane Anderson and his wife, Stacy of Shapleigh, several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday July 9th at 10AM at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale.
