Ryan Libbey

Ryan Nathan Libbey was born on August 17th, 1999 to Jennifer (Libbey) Cote of Lebanon, Maine. Ryan was a special young man who was filled with love, laughter, and kindness. He experienced joy in the simple things and anyone lucky enough to spend time with him got to see the world through his eyes. Colorful blinking lights and spinning toys would cause his face to light up with joy. Riding shotgun on the Gator in the open fields would fill his face with excitement. Cuddling up with Curious George, his favorite stuffed animal while watching Monsters Inc. would let you know he was relaxed. One of his favorite channels from a very early age was the Catholic Channel where he enjoyed Mother Angelica saying the Rosary. He also loved to go for rides in the car with mom by his side in the back seat with him. One of his favorite places to be on a hot summer day was with his mom and family playing on the beach at their cottage. "Ry Ry" was blessed to have a family that loved him beyond measure and a team of supporters that were part of his extended family. Ryan was a warrior and a teacher. He had ADNP, a rare genetic syndrome which symptoms include intellectual disability, autism spectrum disorder, and impacts the development of speech and motor skills. His life presented him with many challenges, but he had an amazing amount of strength and purpose. What Ryan brought to the lives of everyone he encountered was the opportunity to break down their own barriers and open their hearts to experience compassion, patience and unconditional love. That was his gift to everyone he met and he was a great teacher for so many. His smile would light up a room and fill any heart that was open. Ryan had a tribe of many and every person who was lucky enough to be a part of Ryan's life should know how lucky he was to have you as a part of his as well. The compassion, support and love from his caregivers made a big difference in Ryan's life, especially his Maine Medical Center R5 family. Ryan was predeceased by his dad, Troy S. Payeur in 2020. Surviving are his mom, Jennifer (Libbey) Cote of Lebanon; his brother, Kyle; his grandparents, Roger and Sylvia Libbey of Lebanon; Aunts and Uncles, Bryan and Kim Libbey, James and Lori Libbey; Cousins, Kaylin and Joe Harris and their son Levi, Justin Libbey, Chris Libbey, Elizabeth (Lily) Libbey His extended family, including; grandparents, Ernie and Susan Cote of Shapleigh; Shane Cote of Sanford, the Cote/Desrochers family and Aunt and godmother, Anne(Libbey) Munck. Relatives and Friends are invited to a time of visitation on Friday, March 11, 2022 from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, located at 580 Main Street in Springvale. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 12 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Therese of Lisieux Parish Holy Family Church, 66 North Ave., Sanford.
