Ruth Rodgers

Ruth B. Rodgers, 80, of Sanford, passed away on Thursday August 11, 2005 at the Kennebunk Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Sardinia, New York on December 29, 1924 a daughter of Nathanial and Stella (Haidvogel) Butler.She graduated from Sanford High School in 1942. For over 20 years she was employed at Somersworth Shoe. An avid gardener, she loved to tend to her gardens. She enjoyed life and the company of people. She was a prankster. She would check in on the people in her neighborhood to make sure everything was fine. She also enjoyed country line dancing and would do so a couple times a week. She will be dearly missed by her familyShe is predeceased by her husband of 44 years, Harry A. Rodgers who passed away in 1993, one son, Brian A. Rodgers who passed away in 1995, four brothers, Myron Butler, Arthur Butler, Dennis Butler, Frank Butler. She is survived by one daughter, Karen R. Spiliopoulos and her husband, Harry of Sanford. Four grandchildren, Marianne Normand, Arianna Spiliopoulos, Lauren Spiliopoulos, Alexander Spiliopoulos, two great grandchildren, Brandon Normand and Brian Normand as well as numerous nieces and nephews.Family and friends are invited to gather for a time of remembrance and celebration of Ruth's life from 12noon to 2pm on Sunday August 14 at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home 580 Main Street in Springvale.In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in her memory to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, Maine Chapter PO Box 426 Westbrook, Maine 04098.
