Scarborough- Ruth E. Bridges, 81, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2026, at the Enclave, where she was cared for with compassion and dignity.
Born September 1945 in Portland to the late Martin and Hazel (Henderson) Casey, Ruth graduated from Portland High School in 1963 and built a meaningful career in service and finance. She began as a telephone operator, then transitioned to banking, where she spent decades as a mortgage underwriter before moving into auditing and quality control.
In 1972, Ruth married David, and together they created a life full of joy and adventure. They were boating enthusiasts, spending countless weekends aboard their beloved Sandpiper, exploring the Boothbay region with friends and family. Their shared love of travel took them to Florida, where they made new memories over two decades before David’s passing in 2006.
Life had a beautiful gift in store. During a visit to Maine years later, Ruth attended her 50th high school reunion and reconnected with her high school sweetheart, Louie. What followed was a second chance at companionship and love; enjoying life’s simple pleasures, traveling to St. Petersburg, and spending summers at Highland Lake.
Ruth was predeceased by her husband, David Bridges; and sister, Barbara Fortier. She is survived by her special partner of 12 years, Louis Savard and her beloved cat, Casey; daughter, Cindy Bridges; grand-kitty, Rosie; cousin, Linda Henderson; as well as many extended family members.
The family expresses deep gratitude to The Enclave and Gentiva Hospice for their exceptional care.
Visiting Hours will be held from 4pm – 6pm on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at the new Conroy-Tully Walker Cremation, Funeral, and Gathering Center, 300 Allen Ave. Portland. Prayers will be recited at the funeral home at 10am on Wednesday, October 7, 2026; a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am at St. Pius X Church, 492 Ocean Ave. Portland. Graveside services will be rendered at 11am on Friday, October 9, 2026, at Laurel Hill Cemetery, Saco.
