Rose Marie Lannon

May 13, 1945 ~ October 1, 2025

South Portland – Rose Marie (Reynolds) Lannon, 80, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2025, surrounded by her loving children. A strong, devoted Irish Catholic, Rose held an unwavering faith in God that guided her throughout her life.

Born May 13, 1945, in Boston, Massachusetts, the daughter of the late Joseph and Rose (Ryan) Reynolds. She graduated from Milton High School in 1963 and married James (Jim) Lannon, her companion of 53 years at St. Agatha’s Church in Milton. She built a life centered on faith, family, and hard work. After moving to Maine, she became a parishioner of The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception and after retirement from the UMaine System, continued her work at the Diocese and volunteering through the Church, where she made close friends. Rose cherished her Irish heritage and was full of warmth and joy that touched everyone she knew. Always with a sprinkle of shenanigans. Rose loved a good time, and was happiest when surrounded by family—cheering for her grandchildren in sports, hosting Sunday dinners, holiday meals, and opening her home for gatherings.

Rose is survived by her children, Kelly Lannon, Jim Lannon, and Paula Birmingham; and grandchildren, Owen, Katherine, Jack and Colin who were the light of her life, and her sister, Mary Belanger; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She will be remembered for her kind heart, warm hospitality, joyful spirit, generosity, and devotion to family and her faith.
