Roscoe A. "Pete" Hussey, Jr.Alfred, MaineRoscoe Ainsworth "Pete" Hussey, Jr., 70, of Oak Street, Alfred died July 4, 2003 at his home. He was born in Alfred August 26, 1932, a son of Roscoe A. and Gladys (Adams) Hussey, Sr., and had lived here all his life.Roscoe attended Alfred schools and formerly worked for the Forest Service in Alfred in the '50's. Later in the '50's and into the '60's, he worked at the leather mill in Waterboro. He also delivered dairy products for Shaw's Ridge Farm in the late '60's. He operated the Alfred Getty Station in the '70's. Pete also owned and operated Hussey Heating and was an oil burner technician for 20 years.He served in the National Guard in Sanford for 10 years.Pete was also active in town politics for most of his life. He was a family man who also loved the outdoors, especially May flowers.Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Claire (Charette) Hussey of Alfred; two sons, Curtis of San Diego and Perry of Alfred; two daughters, Cathy and Sandra, both of Alfred; 6 brothers, Arthur, Thomas Robert and Samuel, all of Alfred and Elwyn and Nelson, both of Springvale; 7 sisters, Lucille Maine, Mabel Stearns, Betty Ghidoni, Phyllis Couture and Cora Carlson, all of Alfred, Pauline Burgess of Dixfield and Robert Carrigan of Sanford; 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.Following cremation, a graveside service will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, August 2, 2003 in Evergreen Cemetery, Alfred..Memorial contributions in Mr. Hussey's name may be made to Beacon Hospice, 600 Roundwood Drive, Scarborough, ME 04074 To send an on-line condolence, click on healdfuneral.com
