Roland L. Daney Sr, 81, of Alfred passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on June 22, 2026 at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.

Roland was born on November 30, 1944, in Sanford where he grew up and attended local schools graduating from Sanford High school with the class of 1964.

He was employed at Genest Concrete in Sanford for 25 years, Putnum Lumber for a while and with finished his career at Scott Libby Paving from where he retired shortly after. He also loved taking junk apart to cash in for money.

He was a lifetime member of the local clubs including the Wolves Club, VFW, Amvets and Waterboro Eagles. He also loved to watch the Patriots and Red Sox games.

He raced at Beech Ridge Speedway for a few years and when he had a chance would be out on his Harley. He could also often be snacking on his favorites Kit Kats and Reece’s Peanut Butter Cups.

Roland was predeceased by a son Roland L. Daney Jr., his parents Raymond and Rita (Pierce) Daney Sr., and a sister Mary Bigda.

He is survived by two daughters, Rhonda Graffam who resided with Alfred, Sheila Paul and her children of Rochester, NH, brothers Paul Daney of Hollis, David Daney and his wife Irene of Holiday, FL., sisters, Joyce Godin of Waterboro, Christine Godin and her husband Peter of Sanford.

He is also survived by his grandchildren Craig Daney of Alfred, Brian Graffam and his wife Heather of Limerick, Christie Graffam and her partner Andrew Peters of Vernon, CT, and 6 great grandchildren Brian, Kennadi, Sawyer and Walker Graffam of Limerick, Cayden Daney of Alfred, Isaac Peters of Vernon, CT, and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at 10:00 A.M. at Evergreen Cemetery in Alfred.
