Roland H. Booker, 82, of 25 Main Street, East Waterboro, died Monday, July 28, 2003 at Mercy Hospital in Portland, following a brief illness. He was born in Richmond, ME, a son of James "William" and Edna (Pooler) Booker, and grew up in Lisbon Falls where he attended local schools.He was drafted into the Army during WWII and served in Germany. Following the war, he returned to Maine and moved to Waterboro in 1947. He worked for a local lumber mill and then became a foreman at the former Eastern Plastics in Sanford. He later worked at the former Ace Trailer manufacturing facility in Alfred and then for Maine Rubber in Westbrook until his retirement in 1984.He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Roland also enjoyed three and four wheelers. As an experienced woodworker he fabricated his own saw mill to cut the lumber he used to build 28 bridges on three wheeler trails in Waterboro and Hollis. He was a member of the Hollis Three Wheeler Club.His wife of 34 years, Lillian (Maggie) Graffam Booker died in 1984 and a son, Scott J. Booker died last Friday.Survivors include 6 sons, Raymond H. Booker of Hiram, Albert A. Booker of Buxton, Kenneth D. Booker of Dayton, Eric E. Booker of Waterboro, Mark T. Booker of Biddeford and Ross C. Booker of Platte City, MO; two daughters, Sharon R. Gammon of Alfred and Kelly S. Daniels of Leavenworth, KS; three brothers, Kenneth E. Booker of E. Waterboro, Robert (Willie) Booker of Kennebunk and Bernard Booker of Sanford; 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Saturday, August 2, 2003 at the Heald Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale, where relatives and friends may call on Friday from 7-9 PM. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, North Waterboro.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 343 Gorham Road, S.
