Roger A. Vachon

Roger A. Vachon, 65, of Sanford, died unexpectedly May 1 at the Goodall Hospital in Sanford.He was born in Middletown, CT on August 6, 1939, a son of Zoel and Jennie Louise (Carlson) Vachon. He came to this area as a child and attended Sanford schools.He was employed for 35 years with Cyro Industries in Sanford, retiring several years ago. In his retirement, he worked for Hannaford Supermarket in Sanford, and drove a school bus for the Sanford schools.He attended the Curtis Lake Christian Church.He enjoyed woodworking, and in past years enjoyed hunting and dancing.Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Arlene (Uhlman) Vachon, his mother, son James Mathieu, daughters Christina Vachon, Katrina Vachon, Carol Ann Mathieu, all of Sanford, daughter Melinda Mathieu of Rochester, NH, brother Joseph Z. Vachon, Sr. and his wife Elaine of W. Newfield, sister Margaret Hatch and her husband Charles of Lebanon, 5 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and his dog Cricket.Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street, Sanford. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 10 AM in the Curtis Lake Christian Church, with the Rev. Jim McAtee officiating. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery in Sanford.
