Robert McDougall

NEW GLOUCESTER--Robert M. McDougall, 86 of New Gloucester, died Thursday November 4, 2021 at his home. He was born in Mattawamkeag July 14, 1935 the son of William McDougall and Mary (Lausier) McDougall. He lived in Caribou for a short time then his family moved to Yarmouth for a few years, then to Portland. He graduated from Portland High School in 1952. He married his wife, Mary Ellen in 1954 and became a Portland fire fighter shortly after. He retired from the Fire Department as a Lieutenant in 1986. He worked for Hannaford up until the time of his death, having over 35 years of service. Mr. McDougall loved to tinker with things, especially anything electronic. He enjoyed fixing his cars and most anything around the house. The most important part of his life was his family. Robert was predeceased by his wife, Mary Ellen and a daughter, Holly McDougall. He is survived by his daughters, Deborah Kenny and her husband Richard of Lewiston, Roberta McDougall and Pamela McDougall, both of New Gloucester, his brothers, Donald McDougall and his wife Marion of Connecticut, Galen McDougall and his wife Laurel of Ohio and Reginald McDougall and his wife Jeanette of Arkansas; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Relatives and friends may visit with Robert's family on Wednesday November 10, 2021 from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the Conroy-Tully Walker, South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland with a funeral service at 11:00 am.
