I am so sad reading that Bupa Jordan has passed. As a member of Portland High’s largest graduating in its history, our class of 1976 still allowed Bupa to stand amongst his peers. Bupa was always in a good mood, excited to see anyone he knew and a “cut” above others in his loyalty, friendship and kindness. Bupa’s traits and personalities mirrored those on Portland’s waterfront. He judged you buy your character, stories and “you got away with what” versus one’s tax return.
Steve Ringo Dodd formed a great friendship with Bupa as they opened the very best fresh fish market at Cash Corner in South Portland. While to operations were not able to be sustained; hundreds like me expanded our understanding of fish that no one understood in the late 80’s. Pollack, Hake, Cod & Swordfish were fileted to perfection and Bupa sold you on “try it” you will come in again for more.
You were bigger than life Bupa and the night I walked downstairs at the old Erik’s meeting you was priceless. You personally looked out for my now wife when a scuffle broke out before I arrived. Thank you.
