Robert Winfrey Inskeep III, 65, passed away at his home on February 9, 2023. Robert (Bob) joined the Navy from High School, attaining the rank of Machinist Mate First Class. In 1983 he was assigned to the USS Iwo Jima. While serving, his ship was among those selected to transport and support Marine Companies for a Peacekeeping Mission to Beruit in 1983. As such, he was acquainted with many of the marines who died in their barracks on October 23rd as the result of a suicide bomber. He was part of the crew that went ashore to search for survivors. Bob was honorably discharged in 1989 a result of medically injuries acquired while serving. It was later to be determined he qualified for 100% disability as a result of medical findings and review of compiling issues. Bob ultimately settled in Lebanon, Maine with his wife, Chris, and two sons. He continued his education to receive a Bachelor’s Degree as a certified accountant from Franklin Pierce College. Bob is preceded in death by his mother, Mabel Crooks Todd; his father, John Berry Inskeep Sr., stepfather, Graham Todd; and siblings, Keith Inskeep, Charles Todd, Blaine Todd, and Graham Todd Jr. Bob is survived by his wife of 42 years, Chris Inskeep (nee Hollis), his four children; Robert Winfrey IV, Nicholas Edward, Jaime Alexis and Tambry Leigh. Bob leaves behind three grandchildren, Korah Ember Sue, Tristen Albert, and Violet Eve. Bob is also survived by his stepmother, Geri Inskeep and siblings, including John A. Inskeep, Kathy and John C. Willis, Robert Stevon Inskeep, John B. Inskeep Jr., and Brian Todd. Bob leaves many behind many nieces and nephews. Per his wishes he was cremated. Interment with Military Honors will be at the Southern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery at a later date.
