Robert Harris

On Tuesday, July 27th, 2021, Robert L. Harris, affectionately known by some as "Bobby-Leigh", passed away of natural causes. Bob was born on January 16, 1956 in Portland, ME. From birth he faced challenges as he and his twin sister were born three months prematurely. Nevertheless, when he left the hospital four months later, he was considered a miracle baby and made the front page of the Portland Press Herald on his first birthday. In his teenage years, he spent time in the 5th Maine Regiment Drum & Bugle Corp where he made some lifelong friends. After that he attended Wentworth Institute of Technology. Bob had multiple careers throughout his life. For several years he worked for Nissan Bakery and later as a drywaller. He always had a love for photography and continued to photograph as a side job for a number of years. However, his true passion was cooking. His adoration for the culinary arts drove him to attend culinary school later in life to enhance his cooking skills. Friends and family alike can attest to the amazing breads and meals that he shared with all. Bob was a kind, passionate soul whose infectious laugh would light up a room. He was a good natured spirit who had a willingness to help a friend in need. Bob was predeceased by his twin sister, Robyn Lynn; brother, Scott and father, Robert A. Harris. He is survived by his brother, Gregory Harris; sister, Liza Dalfonso; sister, Rachel Herrin and mother, Natalie Lessor. His 4 nephews, 6 nieces, 2 grand-nieces and 3 grand-nephews. A private burial service will be held on Wednesday, August 4th, 2021. Condolences may be expressed at www.blackfuneralhomes.com
