Sergeant Major Robert S. Dudgeon, US Army (ret)Wichita, KansasSergeant Major Robert S. Dudgeon, 63, died unexpectedly at his home in Wichita on July 11, 2001. He was born in New Bedford, MA, the son of Harold and Ella Dudgeon.He attended school in Whitestone, NY and graduated from Sanford (ME) High School. He attended the former Nasson College in Springvale.He was called to service in the US Army and subsequently made it his career. He was assigned duty in a number of foreign countries and throughout the US, the last being in Wichita where he retired several years ago. Following retirement he volunteered for his church and other public organizations.He was pre-deceased by his parents and his brother, Samuel R. Dudgeon.He is survived by a brother, Edward K. Dudgeon of Miami, Oklahoma and 4 nieces: Elizabeth Dudgeon of Sanford, ME, Anne Holcomb of Bayside, CA, Christine Wilson of Graystake, IL and Constance Dudgeon of Boston, MA.A memorial service was held at the base chapel in Wichita, and a tree was planted there in his memory by his friends.His cremated remains were interred in the Memorial Garden of All Saints Episcopal Church, Miami, Oklahoma on July 25, 2001, where a memorial fund was established in his name.
