Rita Turgeon
Rita Turgeon, 86, of Sanford, died April 5 at the Goodall Hospital in Sanford after a brief illness.She was born in Sanford on September 15, 1924, the daughter of Edmund and Irene (Grenier) White and attended Holy Family School.She was employed for many years at Jagger Mills.Rita was a communicant of Holy Family Church and a life member of the VFW Auxiliary in Sanford.Rita is remembered as a kind and gentle soul who was always pleasant, welcoming and cheerful. A devoted wife, mother and memere, she reveled in the company of family and friends who were always invited into her home with a smile. She was very easy to please, enjoying nothing more than a sunny day and the sights and sounds of nature.Rita was predeceased by her devoted husband Gerard Turgeon, by a son Conrad Turgeon, by a brother Robert White and by a sister Gloria Swift.Survivors include her son Michael G. Turgeon of Shapleigh, a daughter, Elaine Colby and her husband William of Springvale, three brothers, Leonard White and his wife Marguerite, Hector White and his wife Sylvia, Donald White and his wife Doris, all of Sanford, two sisters, Cecile Cormier of Springvale, Lorraine Sanfacon of Jacksonville, NC, 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.A graveside service will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 AM at the Southern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Springvale.Arrangements are under the direction of the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale.
