Rita Cecile (Tardiff) Normand, formerly of Oak Street in Sanford, passed away at The Lodges Care Center on September 14, 2024, at the age of 91.
Rita was born on April 20, 1933, in Springvale, Maine to George and Cecile (Pilon) Tardiff. She grew up in Springvale and attended Springvale Schools.
At 14 years old Rita worked at Goodall Hospital as an aide. She then met the love of her life Robert Normand, and they married on September 30, 1950. She also worked in a few factories but returned to her job as a CNA.
Rita and her husband built a cottage on Mousam Lake, where they would enjoy summers with their daughters. Rita had a love for cooking and baking. Every Christmas she made peanut butter fudge, carrot cake along with a variety of foods. She also enjoyed planting and watching her flowers grow.
Surviving are her two daughters Claire Bourassa and Patricia Michaud and her husband Steven all of Sanford; four grandchildren, Rebecca McCann husband Todd of Sanford, Johnathan Michaud and his wife Stephanie of South Portland, Jeffery Bourassa and his wife Jocelyn of Yarmouth, and Jason Michaud and his wife Yvonne of Acton and six great grandchildren Tanner, Zoey, Robert, Jack, Eden and Philip; her sister-in-law, Therese Tardiff, several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Robert Normand, her brother, Robert Tardiff, her sisters Lorraine Leveille and her husband Raoul, Doris Farwell and her husband Bruce and her son-in-law Richard Bourassa.
Rita’s family would like to give a special thank you to care she received at The Lodges Care Center and the staff from Compassus Hospice.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 21st at St. Therese of Lisieux Parish located on North Avenue in Sanford with a luncheon following at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home located at 580 Main Street in Springvale. Interment will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, September 24th at the Southern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery located on Stanley Road in Springvale.

Aunt Rita and Aunt Doris both trained me as a CNA. How lucky am I to have these two exceptional women teach me about nursing? She will be missed.
I met Rita through her daughter Claire and her niece Linda ..

I knew Rita from when she worked as a CNA at Sanford Healthcare. I also new Doris, Claire , and Pat as part of our team helping to care for our Residents. My prayers and thoughts are with her family.
