They were married in Jackman in 1946 at Saint Anthony's church. She and Ted operated a business called Lakeside cabins and Motels for many years. Rita loved the outdoors and many outdoor sports including boating, snowmobiling, tobogganing, and skiing, in the summer months she loved to swim. She loved family gatherings large and small, especially the trips to her son’s camp on Moosehead lake and the rides on his pontoon boat for daily sightseeing adventures. Above all she loved time with her family. If asked, she would have said her greatest accomplishment was her five children, 10 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. 1. We are friends with Claudette and Ben. Through them we met the family and attended many gatherings. Rita’s family is the epitome of what a family should be like

  2. My wife (Fran) and I have had the privilege and honor of knowing Rita for nearly years. She was a remarkable women. Her love of GOD and family was also front and center. So proud and forever eager to boost about them all. She was so blessed to have had such a wonderful family around her all times. All given to taking care of her. Rita always had a smile on her face and a sense of humor that could lite up any room she was in. She had stories to tell and words of advice on how to have a happy life. Her own life’s journeys has demonstrated that her words should be heeded. To have known Rita was to have loved her. Thanks Rita for being you and thanks to your children for sharing you with us. She will be missed by family and friends alike.

  3. When Jeff & I first got married, we did not have two nickels to rub together. All we had to do was visit Mark on Alder Street. Mom & Dad fed us that included stories and laughter plus the addition of giving us food to bring home. I will never forget that! Then Jeff began demolition to the 3rd floor future apartment that still gives all of us plenty of laughs. Mark had just mentioned the idea, mind you! So many memories on Alder Street and more with Mark’s other home in S.Portland off Ocean Street. He generously housed us and our children during bad weather boating days. He even had a room for them all set up! We lived in NH so heading home early meant staying with Uncle Mark! Rita, you have raised some very loving and generous children, I so admire that … Love this family!
