Rita L. Cabana

Rita L. Cabana, 82, of Springvale, died July 12 at home following a brief illness.She was born in Sanford on July 6, 1924, a daughter of Donat and Laura (Turcotte) Desrochers, attended the former St. Ignatius School and was a lifelong resident.She had been employed over the years with the former Goodall-Sanford Textile Mills, the Sanford Dress Shop and with Nike Shoe.She was a communicant of St. Ignatius Church.A longtime resident of River Street, she enjoyed playing Bingo and crocheting.She was predeceased by a son, Richard Cabana in 1955.Survivors include 2 sons, David R. Cabana, Sr. and his wife Sheila of Sanford, Stephen M. Cabana of Sanford, 4 grandchildren, Jennifer Ward, her husband Joshua and their daughter Ryleigh, Ashleigh Cabana, David R. Cabana, Jr., Robbie Cabana, 2 brothers, Conrad Desrochers of Somersworth, NH, Robert Desrochers and his wife Ellie of Sanford, and 2 sisters, Helen Gallant of Kennebunk and Jeannette Robichaud of Alfred.Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street, Sanford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11 AM at St. Ignatius Church.
