WESTBROOK - Richard G. Voight, 78, of Longfellow Street, died Friday, September 6, 2013, at his home. He was born in City of Olean, New York, on February 1, 1935, a son of Vernon R. and Celestine G. (Gill) Voight. He graduated from St. Bonaventure University, New York, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting. He married Anne Deschaine on September 8, 1984, in Scarborough. Richard, aka papa to most, loved his grandchildren. Stephen and papa had a Sunday ritual which consisted of burritos for breakfast and Don's Lunch. We all know he'd never say no to a chili dog. He especially cherished his granddaughter, Julie. He loved to reminisce over the times the two shared at Twin Brooks Campground. Papa loved to travel and took many trips around the world with the love of his life, Anne. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was predeceased by a daughter, Kellie (Wiggins) Voight; a step-son, Stephen Deschaine; a brother, Vernon Voight; and two sisters, Bonnie Messe and Shirley Voight. He is survived by his loving wife; three sons, Richard "Rick" Voight, Steven Voight, and Brian Voight; three step-sons, David Deschaine and his wife Nancy of South Portland, John R. Deschaine II of Cumberland, and Michael W. Deschaine of Westbrook; and four grandchildren, Julie and Stephen E.M. Deschaine and Katie and Timothy Wiggins. A celebration of life will be held 3-7 p.m. on Thursday, September 12, 2013 at 12 Dunscombe Street, South Portland.
