Richard D. Vinton, 72, of Sanford, died November 12 at the Maine Medical Center in Portland.He was born in Lancaster, NH on September 27, 1933, the son of Leon and Sarah (Noyce) Vinton.For many years, he was employed as a truck driver for the former Gendron Lumber Co. in Sanford. He then worked for Aerofab and finally for Shaw's Ridge Equipment from which he retired in 1996.He was predeceased by his wife, Alma (Theriault) Vinton in 1981, and by a brother, Robert Vinton in 1999.Survivors include 5 daughters, Gloria Godin and Linda Bishop, both of Newfield, Rachel Downes of Belmont, NH, Janet Allen of Sanford, Barbara Hooper of Lyman, 2 sons, Edward Bishop of Thompsontown, PA, Richard Vinton, Jr. of Gorham, a brother, David Vinton of Sanford, 2 sisters, Betty Welch of Kennebunk, Leona Herbert of Barnstead, NH, 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.A private graveside service will be held in Oakdale Cemetery in Sanford. Arrangements are through the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street, Sanford. Condolences may be expressed at the tab at left.
