CHINA LAKE - Richard Francis "Dick" Keegan, Jr., 72, died on October 14, 2012 in Portland. He was born in Brookline, MA , on February 13, 1940, the son of Richard, Sr. and Frances (Terrio)Keegan.Dick was raised in Brookline and he graduated from St. Aidens School and Brookline High School before serving as a tank commander in the U.S. Army. After his discharge, Dick worked for the International Elevator Union/FS Payne Elevator for over 30 years. In 1969, he married Karen Hannon of Brookline MA. They were married for a little over 17 years, and in their time together, they bought a home in Londonderry, NH and raised four children. Dick resided in China Village in the summer where he enjoyed fishing and spending time with family and Cape Coral, FL in the winter, enjoying sunsets and warm tropical breezes.Dick was a great fishing enthusiast and spent many summer vacations fly-fishing in Brunswick, CA, and deer hunting the woods of Maine. He enjoyed target shooting, gardening, and barbeques with his kids and grandkids. He was an active member in the Legion and a lifetime member of the N.R.A.In addition to his parents, Dick is predeceased by his younger brother William Keegan of Brookline, MA. Dick was a beloved father, and leaves behind his three daughters, Patricia Williams of Scarborough, Tracy Marion of Weare, NH, and Kristine Keegan, of South Portland; and son, Michael Keegan of Saco. He is also survived by seven grandchildren whom all love him dearly, Andrew, Joseph, and Steven Forlano, of Scarborough, Stephanie and Trevor Marion, of Weare, NH, Jordyn Bastarche of South Portland, and Avery Keegan of Saco; and his sister Marie Jennings.Visiting hours will be held from 6-8 pm on Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at Conroy-Tully Crawford South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland. Prayers will be recited 9:15 am on Thursday, October 18, 2012 at the chapel, followed by a 10 am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Maximilian Kolbe Church, 150 Black Point Rd., Scarborough.
